Yeah you read that right. The theiving fuckers are not satisfied with ripping you off with an overpriced p.o.s. car that doesn't have nearly as many features or the luxurious interior the price tag should command. No.
Instead the likes of Tesla, Mercedes and BMW are now forcing you to pay a monthly subscription fee for "extras" - you paid £65,000 for that BMW MX5 SUV and expected heated seats as standard, think again, you have to pay a subscription fee to activate that feature.
Bought a new Mercedes EQC400 and expected to have the extra acceleration promised in the brosure? Nope, you gotta pay a subscription fee to unlock that.
Utterly ridiculous.
But, they will get away with it. It will slowly be brought in over a few months until all models are subject to subscription fees and we will be powerless to do anything about it.
Much like the streaming wars (see Makes me wanna stream), once it gets bulldozed in by one or two, all the other fuckers that make cars will jump on that little cash cow bandwagon and all cars will need an additional subscription after you've paid out a sum of money equal to 3 years' salary in the first place.
I always expected, assumed, maybe even hoped that the future would be spectacular with all kinds of new technologies to improve and enhance our world, but no - in 20 years time it will be just the same only more expensive as more and more greedy bastards find more ingenious ways to legally rip everyone off. I used to be like "If that's what the future holds, bring it on!" now I am more like "If that's the future we're headed for, kill me now."
