Yes folks, subscriptions are the future. Locking you into a contract and guaranteeing a monthly income is the new business model for car manufacturers now. Jumping on the streaming subscription bandwagon. Read more...

Makes me wanna stream!
-03 11 22 - 22:05

That's it.  I have had enough of "stream wars" - the ongoing destruction of broadcast TV and DVD/Blu-Ray in favour of moving movies, shows and documentaries onto exclusive streaming services.  All designed to tie you into a subscription.

In this current climate of increasing poverty and the cost of living crisis, it's incredible and somewhat offensive that these companies are still bulldozing ahead with this scheme.

Only in these times…

Thought of the day

Only in these times would we see official objections and lobbying to have the name of an infectious disease changed just because some overly sensitive people have incredibly managed to find something to be offended by within the name of the disease.

There is truly no hope for the human race, I'll leave this here for you to decide how offensive it is and how important it is to worry about trivialities such as this rather than focus on prevention and cure of the disease - https://apple.news/AQ2k31AKzSZubggsl7ymIxA.

Supermarket Sweep?
-27 05 22 - 00:12

It never ceases to amaze me how the huge supermarkets control our buying. This seems especially evident to me when there is a national holiday or "special" day.

My first example being Easter 2021. 6 weeks before Good Friday, the supermarket shelves were crammed with chocolate eggs and chocolate treats galore - often with decent special offers. Yet 10 days before Good Friday, the same shelves are cleared of anything relating to Easter and instead overcrowded with summer products, mainly barbecue related.

Old news/new news: what’s next?
-12 05 22 - 19:12
default

Well I guess the media have decided that:

  1. The covid19 pandemic is over.
  2. Boris is not going away any time soon.
  3. There isn't as much of a supply/demand crisis as they'd like us to believe.
  4. The war on Ukraine is no longer captivating and tragic enough.
  5. Nobody is panic buying goods or fuel.

Which means we should kick start a new fire and get everyone wound up about a new subject - slavery.

Sick of being...sick!

I have officially had enough of being ill.
After managing to survive 30+ years of nothing more than a mild cold or flu, I have spent the last 6 - 10 months being ill in some form or another.

Anxiety - an invisible disability

I am not going to go into too much detail and I am not going to broadcast personal life details in depth as it would be unfair to others.
That said, I need to say that my wife suffers from extreme anxiety, to the point that it sometimes feels like she worries about not worrying.
I want to be the best husband and friend I can be for her and I want to be able to support her as much as I can, this it seems is not without major challenges.

Covid19 Strikes!

Well, after managing to evade the evil that is covid19 for just over 2 years (including lengthy hospital stays where I expected that if I was going to get it at all, it would be while there), it seems that I have indeed been infected with it. Read more...

Covid-19: Time to let it fade
-14 03 22 - 20:45

I think it's about time we dropped all the covid19  gibberish now.
We need to stop the constant testing - after April 1st it shouldn't just be that you have to pay for a lateral flow test - they should simply no longer be available to anyone except hospitals for the purpose of testing patients with symptoms.  Not for any old bod to constantly test themselves.

Russia invades Ukraine

I am waking up to the news that the idiot that is President Putin has (despite 3 months notice and a multitude of discussions from various other nations' leaders aimed at stopping it before it started) sent military forces into Ukraine and started blowing things up. Read more...

Hospital

So, it's taken a while to put this on here.
I was taken into hospital on 15th September 2021 and ended up staying in there for 3½ weeks after life-saving surgery!

Old News

Yes it's an old news item, but I stumbled across it recently and was reminded of the ludicrous nature of the statement.  I'm sure there's more to it than would seem but the good old media have spun it in such a way as to make it sound moronic.
